VANCOUVER, BC - Willis W. Osborne, President of Great Quest Metals Ltd. (TSX Venture Exchange: GQ), is pleased to announce the details of the start of the 2006 diamond drill program on the Kenieba concession in western Mali, West Africa. The principle target is the Djambaye 2 gold zone, which has been traced for 2,342 metres along the surface through sampling of pits. In 2005, 11 of 12 holes drilled into this zone intersected significant gold including Hole KN 06 with 12.49 m of 2.80 g/t gold, containing 2.96 m of 9.86 g/t, and Hole KN 08 with 14.59 m of 2.54 g/t gold, containing 1.16 m of 17.57 g/t gold. The Company also intersected 1.05 m of 808 g/t gold in drill hole KN 11. Drilling is expected to start in early March, 2006.

Other possible drill targets on the Kenieba concession include:

  • Kabaya 1. Three zones. Five of 9 samples of quartz veins from 4 pits over a length of 300 m located east of an altered and brecciated siltstone assayed 0.71, 1.30, 19.47, 11.38 and 55.60 g/t gold. Soil results confirm this zone. Also, 3 samples from pits over 65 m in saprolite with quartz veins assayed 2.88, 4.95 and 7.89 g/t gold. Finally, there is a quartz vein system traced for 600 m with a high assay of 1.06 g/t gold.
  • Kabaya 2. A 1,200 m soil anomaly partly coincident with a 400 m long, 3 to 6 m wide felsite dyke which is covered with orpaillage or hand dug pits. Seven pits were dug along the soil anomaly north of the dyke over a distance of 200 m. Ten samples from the sides of 5 pits assayed from 16 to 416 ppb gold. Samples from the bottom of 2 pits gave 112 and 21,155 ppb gold.
  • The Kourfin vein system. Three samples over a 2 m wide vein assayed 1.96, 20.67 and 22.52 g/t gold. It appears that this vein could be part of a wider vein system. Zone has been traced for 75 m.
  • Djambaye 1 zone. A possible faulted off (?) section of the Djambaye 2 has been traced for 1,200 m. Thirteen reject samples from old pits ranged from 93 to 41,513 ppb gold and, not counting the 41,513 ppb sample, averaged 1,333 ppb gold. One 2003 drill hole intersected 29.8 m of 0.66 g/t gold.

There is also the Baroya Nord zone on the Baroya concession. A series of quartz vein-occurrences are aligned in a northerly direction over 225 m. Assays from samples from trenches include 2.5 m of 1.06 g/t gold, 6.0 m of 4.93 g/t gold and 3.0 m of 2.21 g/t gold. One pit had 6.4 m of 1.63 g/t gold.
