Great Quest Reports Geological Intersection of Djambaye 2 Gold Zone at Depth
VANCOUVER, BC - Willis W. Osborne, President of Great Quest Metals Ltd. (TSX Venture Exchange: GQ), is pleased to announce that the first drill hole, DH 03 05, in the Company's program on the Djambaye 2 gold zone, Kenieba concession, western Mali, West Africa has been completed. The hole was spotted east of the Djambaye 2 zone and was drilled at -50º to the west to determine the dip of the rhyodacite and diorite dykes along which the gold mineralization occurs. Gold mineralization has been traced along the Djambaye 2 zone for 2,342 m.
Below is a list of dykes intersected in the hole:
Interval in hole Width Type of Dyke 11.0 - 11.8 0.8 Diorite 22.2 - 23.2 1.0 Rhyodacite 27.7 - 28.4 0.7 Diorite 29.4 - 33.0 3.6 Rhyodacite 37.3 - 40.8 3.5 Rhyodacite
It is thought that the 2 dykes between 29.4 and 40.8 m (11.4 m) along the drill hole constitute the intersection at depth of the main Djambaye 2 zone worked by the orpailleurs or hand miners at the surface. Gold mineralization on the surface actually occurs in the dyke and in altered rock along the dyke. The orpailleurs report that the dykes dip steeply to the east which is confirmed by the drill hole. One interesting aspect of this hole is the occurrence of 3 additional, although smaller, dykes to the east. Hole 04 05, drilled at an angle of -50 to the northwest from the same site as Hole 03 05, shows a similar relationship between the intersection of the main zone at 35.0 to 49.2 m (14.2 m) and the surface occurrence of the Djambaye 2 zone.
The Djambaye 2 gold zone shares several characteristics similar to the Tabakoto gold deposit of Nevsun Resources which is 8 km to the northeast and scheduled to go into production in 2005.
The core from the first hole has been split and will be sent to the assay lab as soon possible to further confirm the geological interpretation. Marvin Mitchell, the Qualified Person pursuant to NI 43-101, approves of this announcement.
