The copper-gold-molybdenum, 108 unit (27 square kilometer) Taseko property, 225 km north of Vancouver, covers the metasomatic copper-gold Empress deposit and East zone, the porphyry copper-gold-molybdenum Buzzer, Buzzer West and Rowbottom zones and the Granite Creek molybdenum zone. The Empress deposit has a historical mineral resource of 11,078,000 tons of 0.61% copper and 0.023 ounces per ton gold (

In August, 2010 Great Quest optioned its Taseko project to a newly formed company, Granite Creek Gold Ltd. In exchange for the issuance of 6.75 million shares of Granite Creek to Great Quest over four years and work commitments of a minimum of $3,000,000 over five years, Granite Creek can earn a 51% interest in the property. Additionally, Granite Creek may increase its interest to 70% by spending a further $2,000,000 on the property, issuing an additional 3,000,000 common shares of Granite Creek to Great Quest and completing a feasibility study. Willis W. Osborne, President and CEO of Great Quest, will join the Board of Granite Creek. The Agreement is subject to TSX Venture Exchange approval.
Great Quest is optioning the Taseko property in order to concentrate its full effort on gold and phosphate in Mali.
Mineral Deposits In The Area
- Taseko Mines Ltd., The Prosperity Deposit is approximately 25 kilometers north of the Taseko Property. It has an indicated, proven and probable mineral reserve of 480 million tonnes of 0.43 grams/tonne gold (0.013 ounces per ton) and 0.22%copper.
- Bralorne Gold Mines, This past producer is approximately 58 kilometers southeast of the Taseko Property. The mines have produced 4.1 million ounces of gold and are being tested for further production.
- Barrick Gold Corp., The Poison Mountain Property is located 75 kilometers east of Taseko Lake. It has Reserves of 280 million tonnes 0.261% copper, 0.142 grams/tonne gold, 0.007% molybdenum. And 0.514 grams/tonne silver.
- Galore Resources Inc., The Pellaire Mine has an estimated mineralization of 90,000 tons of 0.79 ounces/ ton Gold plus significantly more potential. Approximately 2000 ounces of gold were produced in 2000 under a Testing permit.
